Hands-on Exercise 2

In this exercise you will learn create a forward dynamics musculoskeletal simulation of upper limb movement. You will first learn to control elbow flexion by prescribing muscle activations to the model's virtual muscles. Then you will learn to add additional objects to the simulation and to define contact geometries and contact forces to enable physical interaction. You will then learn to add "assistive components" such as passive springs and joint torque motors. These will be used to help support the musculoskeletal function during the elbow flexion exercise. The excercise will be performed using the MATLAB scripting tool and the OpenSim APIs. Please find below a video of the intended simulation.

Please find attached to this page the exercise material. Copy the material in a dedicated folder and run the MATLAB script. This will generate a new OpenSim musculoskeletal model, which can be simulated directly using the OpenSim GUI.
