Human Neck Model
The muscles of the neck generate movements of the head and help maintain stability of the cervical spine. We have used quantitative descriptions of muscle architecture and musculoskeletal geometry to develop a biomechanical model of the human neck. The model characterizes the moment arms, force- and moment-generating capacities of 19 individual muscles over physiological ranges of flexion, extension, axial rotation and lateral bending.
